Engaging Divine Visitation Through Sacrificial Obedience
There are moments that you look at your present situation and it looks as if you have come to the darkest hour of your life. The Zarephath woman who happened to be a widow, found herself in this kind of situation as well.
The Zarephath woman in 1 Kings 17:12 told Elijah that; “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.” 1 Kings 17:12 (NKJV).
But despite her current situation of lack, she still obeyed Elijah -The Prophet of God.
“So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.” I Kings 17:15-16 (NKJV).
She enjoyed the miraculous because she chose to obey God despite her current situation. What was supposed to be her last meal became a lasting meal for her.
