Feeding your destiny.

Feeding your destiny.

By Rev. Dr. Adesina Abegunde on May 19, 2020

When we are asked a question about the magnitude of our destinies, very few people will nod their heads affirming that they have a small destiny to run. That is, we all believe that there is a major destiny we are meant to run during our lifetime. But it doesn’t end at just knowing that we have the destiny to run, there are a lot of things we have to do to ensure that our goal is achieved. Problem is we fail to realize that fulfilling our destinies is more of the things we take in than what we give out. Everything our lives entail is cumulative of what we feed our destiny. One way of overcoming spiritual anorexia is by feeding our destiny.

“If you feed your destiny minor things, what you get is a minor destiny

If you feed your destiny with medium feeding, what you get is a commonplace destiny

If you feed your destiny with major things, you will run a major destiny”

Feeding your destiny entails feeding your spirit. It determines where you are going to be at the end of your lifetime on earth. The greatest you ever become is not a function of what God can make you but the best you can make of the provisions of God to your destinies. It is what you can make out of the agenda of God for your life. It is not up to God but to you. You have a choice to make in this regard to determine how far you will go which depends on how much you make of what God has given you. What this means is that your position is as a result of the best actions you consciously draw out from the combination of your spirit soul and body. It depends on the capacity of your spirit, soul and body.
For as long as you live on this earth, you are a tripartite being, that is, you are of three parts — the spirit, the soul and body. Most of us do not realize that we are actually spirit beings instead of mere bodies that we tend to always appreciate when we look at the mirror. We appraise ourselves based on what we see and how others see us. It will be wise to note that we are all spirits, we have souls and we live in a body. The body is the container that houses our real selves which is the spirit. The soul acts as the centre of all cognitive functions — the mind, the will and the emotions.

It takes the quality of your spirit man, your soul — the mind, the will and the emotions— and your body. We need to learn to look inward towards the spirit than the outside (body). You must be well fed in order to run a major destiny.

What is required for feeding your destiny

  1. Food for the body [1 Corinthians 6:13]
  2. Information for the soul [Romans 12:2, Proverbs 4:7]
  3. Revelation for your spirit [Deuteronomy 8:3, Matthew 4:4]

The spirit serves as a control room what you feed your soul and body. What you feed your body as well as influences what you feed your body. Developing appetite for the word of God is how you truly feed your spirit [1 Peter 2:2]. Thirst and earnestly desire for the spirit meat which is the word of God. Your desire to pray will awaken when you feed yourself with the word of God. Thus, you will live a fulfilled life if you feed your spirit.
