LET NOT
By Rev. Dr. Adesina Abegunde on April 1, 2020
we shall be looking at three kinds of let not that we should pay attention to in a time as this;
1. Let not your heart be troubled. -John 14:1,27.
Even in the midst of corona virus and outbreak everywhere. Clarity of heart, clarity of mind and calmness is very important in this season. Every time there is a calamity like this, sometimes fear kills more people than the calamity itself. Don’t let your heart be troubled. Confusion and distortion are not characteristics of the spirit of Jesus. Jesus brings clarity into situations and calmness into turmoil. In the midst of the whole thing, make sure you have calmness of heart. Everything happening now is strange and at the same time not strange. If we consider the things that have been written in the scripture you will realize that it has been spoken about and it has also been prophesied by some men of God. The bible makes us understand that the happenings of the end of the world will be both prophetical and political. Jesus spoke about war against nations and this outbreak has been described as a health war. Not minding this outbreak or what will follow the outbreak, God has promised to protect the elect, so let not your heart be troubled. It’s a time to believe in God and put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ. This is the beginning of the end and if you are truly born again and believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal savior and believed that He died to redeem you and reconcile you to God, you have nothing to fear because He paid all. It is only in Jesus that we can find peace and help and not from any medical practitioner or health officer seeing as they are all also going into quarantine. It is your duty to let not your heart be troubled. The Bible did not say that the Holy Spirit will help your heart not to be troubled. This can be achieved by engaging the word of God and the Holy Spirit. DO not transmit fear, transmit hope. Infect people with confidence and trust in God.
2. Let not your body be Contaminated. -Leviticus 15:8,11
In this passage, the Bible tells us about what the response of the people should be to issues regarding bodily discharge. The scripture is very powerful, complete and wonderful. As the scripture commands, wash your hands. To avoid our body from being contaminated, we must watch where we go because everybody is a suspected carrier of the virus. Do not assume that because someone is your friend or family that they are free from the virus. Whenever anyone goes out of the home, they could have touched surfaces that they do not even remember. The first thing to do after getting back home is to wash your hands and do it properly. Even the clothes we wear outside our home should be washed when we get home or spread directly under the sun if we do not want to wash them. Some of these information have been posted online. Please be careful! Even when we touch infected surfaces, we are still safe until we touch our eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Although God has promised to keep us safe, it is our duty to obey and take precautions.
- 3. Let not your spirit be lean. -Ephesians 3:16
This is not the time to be weak spiritually as a Christian. While we exercise wisdom, we are not ignorant of the efficacy of the power in the blood of Jesus. We are not ignorant of the efficacy of His stripes which the bible says that we are healed by. This is a time to pray, spend time in the word and develop the strength in your inner man. Do not be careless or take anything for granted. This is not the time to make jokes or be gisting around. It is a time to be strong. You cover yourself and your house with the blood of Jesus not just as a form of religiosity but reality. Be strong!
