Taking Territories For Jesus Christ

By Pastor Felicien Juh on August 20, 2023

We’ve heard about the story of the spies Moses sent out to the land of Canaan. Twelve leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel and ten of them decided that they were like grasshoppers in the sight of the men of the land. Joshua and Caleb were the only ones with the assurance that as long as God was with them, they would overcome the men of the land (Numbers 13:30 NKJV).

Taking over territories and possessions is not a dream for cowards. It is not done by mere ‘mouth making’. Rather, it takes courage, commitment, and strength. You don’t just sit and hope the possessions come to you, you work for it. Most importantly, you have to be skilled in what you do. “…he shall stand before kings and not mere men” (Proverbs 22:29). It takes diligence in oneself to be courageous and full of strength. Are you skilled in what you do?

The messenger of God also mentioned a few Guidelines To Taking Territories.
First, have a focus. The other ten leaders of the tribes of Israel lost focus because they got distracted by the size and number of the men of Canaan. Be aware of your distractions and overcome them. Also, believe in the efficacy and sufficiency in the Power of God. “…If the Lord is pleased with us, He will lead us into the land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.” (Numbers 14:8 NIV). While the other ten leaders were reporting cowardly, Joshua and Caleb believed in the power of God to give them the land. They recognised their strength would take them nowhere, but they didn’t give up. They relied on the power of God instead.
Finally, survey the land you want to pursue. Do not take steps unprepared. Have a well detailed idea of what you will be facing there.
